Preston became a STEM School in 2005.

Initially it was only an idea.  The reality began to take form through the initiation of high interest, hands on summer elective science, engineering, and math classes.  This summer program drew enthusiastic learners from a wide geographical area.  The positive response to these classes led many Preston staff to reexamine their curriculum and incorporate more authentic discovery oriented experiences in their teaching.  This change has driven much of Preston’s success both in serving students and encouraging and fostering change in other schools.

Preston has been recognized as the Intel School of Distinction, a SMART Showcase School and a John Irwin School of Excellence.
