Exploring Underwater Worlds – (seats have opened up for OCEANOGRAPHY 5-30-13 – register NOW!)
We are very excited to be able to offer a week-long STEM Camp devoted to Oceanography! These camps will be a full day – full week camp, June 17th to June 21st. These camps will focus on marine mammals as a starting place for learning about the oceans. Emphasis in this week-long class will be on learning through inquiry about the ecology and human dimensions of ocean science by exploring marine mammal biology. Marine mammals (such as dolphins and whales) are large, charismatic animals whose study is very popular with students of all ages . They also are a great jumping off point for learning about the marine world and how humans are influenced by it and in turn influence it. Course content will be delivered in a combination of student research of questions posed by both the students and instructors; hands-on activities; instructor-led discussions; and computer-based exercises. An over night fieldtrip to the Denver Aquarium is included (CHAPERONES/DRIVERS WILL BE NEEDED).
